[-$75,003] Where Your Tax Dollar Went

Source: nationalpriorities.org

In my Being Single is Taxing post, I hoped that all the money being ripped ‘liberated’ from my paychecks was being spent wisely. I recently stumbled across this breakdown, which confirmed my fears.

According to Nationalpriorities.org, from every collected tax dollar we spend nearly 30 cents on health care, almost 24 cents on military/defense, but less than 4 cents on education and science (research and exploration) combined.

So, as a nation we are unhealthy, stupid, and armed to the teeth? Hmmm. Sounds about right.

I know that sounds really cynical. Sigh… With all of the over-the-top political events of the past few weeks/months, I’ve gotten dragged back into the matrix of non-stop media coverage. It’s time to resume my information diet.

Enjoy your holiday weekend, if you get one. Respect to our fallen military servicemen and women as we celebrate Memorial Day.

It’s disturbing to see how much we spend on the military.

An information diet makes sense. So many wild things we can have no control over.
