Ahhh! Just when I thought things were going to settle down to a nice, uneventful 2016…

First, I’m stressed and distracted because of some drama at work. Basically, a team member is not doing his job and making me look bad in the process. We had a bit of a dust up (not physical!) on Friday and managers ended up getting involved. Yes, I’m being vague on purpose, sorry. Unfortunately, this is a high profile project with executive visibility. My reputation is important to me and I don’t want problems with this project to jeopardize my job. I’m trying to enjoy this weekend but it’s hard to relax. Next week will be tense. After offering words of support to C@theSingleDollar about her recent run-in with Murphy’s Law, Murphy must have read my comment and decided to pay me a visit.

Just got a notice from my employer that I was overpaid on the disability benefit checks I received when I was on medical leave late last year to the tune of $750!  So I have to pay the money back asap. As the letter states, “We understand that the overpayment was out of your control, but we must work together to resolve the situation without delay.” In other words, it was their mistake, but it’s my problem now. I began this blog in the Winter of 2012 and at that time I had a six figure negative net worth. I had no assets. My financial picture was entirely comprised of liabilities. I had been completely oblivious to the financial dire straits I’d put myself into until that point in my life. My student loans were coming off of forbearance and there was no way I could afford the minimum payments. It was game over.
