[-$42,800] Flat Out

Thank You

Thanks, guys, for all the positivity and words of encouragement after my last post. I really needed a verbal hug, and you guys really delivered. I guess I realized just how much I am relying on getting out a debt by a certain time, just to keep myself together, and when there’s a change to that,  I get really down. I’m just so ready for all of this sacrifice to end, that it gets stressful sometimes. But never to fear, your Intrepid Debt Slayer is still here and ready to charge ahead. 🙂

There’s a reason they call it work

Remember in my last post where I wrote about having my work deadline pulled up to an earlier due date? Well, it got pulled up again to an even earlier date! This week, I’m working flat out trying to get a few different things in a presentable state for next week! This is crazy. With the schedule change, leadership at least knows that I won’t have everything done by then, but they are expecting a sizeable portion of it to be good shape.

As the deadline approaches, this will pretty much be me over the course of this week.

Punch of the Week

Some good news this week! In addition to my minimum payment of $855, I was able to throw an additional $400 towards my loan for a jab / total payment today of $1255.  Yesss!

This is $455 less than the usual $1700 payment I make mid-month. I took that $455 and put it toward my credit card debt. I’ve taken from my Opportunity Fund to pay off the rest of the credit card. Sigh. In any event, this brings my balance down to $42,800. Not bad!

I just found your blog, so I’m looking at how far you’ve come. You started with $140K and are now at $42,800. You paid off almost 100 K? That’s a marathon. I need to look back at how long you’ve had this blog. Good job 👏🏼 Keep going

DDSW or should I call you Single Debt Single Woman. You are such an inspiration. You are my role model. I am starting a new job and will do what I need to, to payoff my 86,000 dollars worth of debt.

That’s awesome! You’ll be in the 30s soon — I guess it might take two months, not one, but still. Not bad! Your life is going to totally change once this is done.

Speaking of, I wonder if you might feel less bored if you changed things up a little right now. What about pausing retirement contributions through the end of the year and putting that on debt? I’m not suggesting you stop forever, just for a few months. Basically for fun, to make it feel less monotonous. It’s not like the stock market is going anywhere right now.

      Hey, C!

Hmmm. I’d say I’m way more frustrated than bored. I want to be able to put more pressure on the gas and none on any of the breaks.
Even reading about the idea of slowing down investment savings made me a little nervous! 🙂 I’m so far behind on my retirement saving, I don’t feel I can slow it down at all.
Every dollar I put in makes me feel better.

I’m really looking forward to getting into the 30’s. That’s keeping me going now. 🙂

Well done for getting down to this level DDSW. I remember you being on about $110,000 so to be down to $42,000 is awesome. I’ll be rooting for you all the way.

Oh I totally empathize with you about the craziness at work. I hope it all works out well and isn’t too too stressful. Way to go on killing that debt tho!!! Every time I see your blog it seems like the balance has dropped by leaped and bounds.

Ugh, the stress. I’ve been meaning to write a post on burnout, but I’m too busy and tired to write much these days.

I know you’ve written about burnout and all the stress you’re under. Seems like we’re both staying in these jobs that are like bad relationships.

When times are bad and stressful, I want out, but then things return to ‘normal’ for a while or even ‘good’ for periods of time and I can’t imagine why I wanted to leave. And then it starts over again…

      Thanks, Michelle!
