I’m so close to paying this infernal credit card off. Only 3 or 4 months left. I’m so close to winning this race…
But something may cause me to stumble and fall before I can cross the finish line.
“What?”, you ask. Sigh……. Medical expenses.
I’ve not been feeling very well for the past few months, an acutely so in the past week or two. I have an appointment to see a doctor and get some lab work done for my immediate concerns. The other ongoing health issues, I’m hoping will hold out until this Winter when I’ve had some time to save up some money.
I have a high-deductible HSA, which means I have to pay thousands of dollars out of pocket before any help kicks in. In a health care world where diagnostic blood tests can run over $3,000 (and often come back inconclusive), you can see why some of us ‘play chicken’ with our health. We put the doctor’s visits off again and again and try to save money. We wait until the medical diagnosis is so severe that treatment costs more than all the money they we ‘saved’.
I really hope that this new issue resolves itself and that I can keep body and soul together until Winter or possibly Spring, when I’ll have the cash saved up to at least cover the deductible portion of any medical procedures that I will need… There goes any hope of saving up for a trip to go…anywhere.
Sigh. Why can’t things ever be simple?

Oh man, that’s brutal! I’ll pray for quick, conclusive results, a simple (and affordable!) solution, and above all total healing and restoration.
Oh! And peace through it all! This situation cannot be easy to manage emotionally on top of everything else. Stay strong, friend!

Oh, do take very good care of yourself. It’s hard to avoid stress but try very hard to eat well and get enough sleep. You are doing so well with your credit card pay-off!

Thanks, Isabella. I will try to do that.

Sorry to hear about it. Obamacare was supposed to fix this, but like you, I am on a “Legacy” plan with a $10,000 deductible, and before I can even get on Obamacare, the Supreme Court will invalidate it later this year, it seems.
Hope you are feeling better and hope that it is just something simple like allergies or something. It is that time of year!

Thanks. My deductible isn’t as high as yours, only $5k-$6k, so I can’t really complain. Unfortunately, my health issues are not simple and will require invasive surgery. Fortunately, I have employment and can save up to pay for it. Good luck with your health insurance.
